How can small ambiguous yet decisive gestures be used to make theatre? Revealed last year in the form of a documentary of work in progress, the POISON 2 laboratory continues its research into “cases of betrayal” by observing the gestures of individuals taking part in resistance movements—first the struggle against Nazism (Poison 1) then the struggle against French, Belgium (Poison 2) and Portuguese (Poison 3) colonialism. Erudite and playful, relevant and mischievous, Adeline Rosenstein digs through stories, archive documents, historical accounts and testimonials looking for fragments of struggles that are echoed in today’s reality. The laboratory is intended to be not only a theatrical observatory highlighting the traps of repression into which we can still fall, but also a plain-speaking tribute to people who fight for freedom.
